Competitive manufacturing of tungsten and tungsten-based components

Through its collaboration with Fusion for Energy (F4E), TECNALIA, together with Leading Metal-Mechanic Solutions, S.L., has developed an advanced high-throughput manufacturing route for high-density tungsten components based on Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS). Originally developed to address demanding fusion-related requirements, this process enables the production of tungsten parts with excellent mechanical properties, high dimensional accuracy, and reduced processing times. In addition to pure tungsten, the technology is compatible with tungsten-based composites, functionally graded materials, and diffusion bonding to dissimilar metals, making it relevant for a wide range of high-performance industrial applications.
