High-performance TPI-insulated cables for radiation and cryogenic environments

Through its collaboration with Fusion for Energy (F4E), Axon’Cable has developed advanced cabling solutions based on thermoplastic polyimide (TPI) insulation, designed to operate under extreme conditions. Originally designed for the quench detection system of ITER’s superconducting magnets, these cables are capable of operating under ultra-high vacuum, intense radiation, and cryogenic temperatures. This development led to the creation of the Flexorad® product line, enabling reliable performance in some of the most demanding environments.

Main advantages and potential applications

  • Proven performance in ITER’s quench detection system
  • Wide temperature range from 2 K to 240°C
  • Excellent resistance to gamma and neutron radiation
  • Extremely low outgassing, suitable for UHV environments
  • High mechanical robustness and long-term stability
  • Adaptable to custom designs and complex harnesses
  • Applications in aerospace, medical imaging, particle accelerators, quantum technologies, and nuclear instrumentation
