FUTTA IV Brokers Meet at ITER to Explore New Technology Transfer Opportunities

On 10 and 11 June 2026, the FUTTA IV broker network gathered at the ITER site, near Aix en Provence (France), for a meeting dedicated to fusion technology transfer, industrial outreach and future demonstrator opportunities.

The meeting brought together brokers from the FUTTA programme, managed by EUROfusion in close collaboration with Fusion for Energy (F4E), the European Commission managing Europe’s contribution to ITER. Representatives from EUROfusion, F4E and the FUTTA IV network joined the discussions to strengthen coordination and identify new ways to bring fusion technologies and know how into non fusion markets.

As ITER pushes the boundaries of engineering to realize fusion energy, it creates a wealth of secondary technologies with massive commercial potential. By combining EUROfusion’s research insights with F4E’s deep ties to European industry, the brokers toured the tokamak assembly to better understand how these complex, already-developed technologies can be practically transferred and adapted into marketplace solutions for non-fusion sectors.

As FUTTA enters a new phase for 2026 and 2027, the ITER meeting confirmed the importance of close cooperation between EUROfusion, F4E, ITER related industrial ecosystems and the broker network. It also highlighted the strong potential of fusion technologies to contribute to innovation in sectors such as energy, aerospace, nuclear, robotics, advanced manufacturing and digital engineering.

Through the European Fusion Technology Transfer Marketplace, companies can discover fusion based technologies, success stories and funding opportunities designed to support the transfer of fusion know how into new markets.
